Chinese Language and Literature


1. Objectives

The purpose of this major is to develop students to have strong skills in oral and written Chinese language as well as broad knowledge in the humanities and social sciences to prepare them for futures in the fields of diplomacy, trade, tourism, translation, secretary, education, research etc.

2. Training requirements

This is a 4-year degree. Students will be allowed to graduate and receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from SAU if students meet all the following requirements: complete all the courses specified in the curriculum, obtain the credits required by the program, independently complete the graduation design (or graduation thesis) related to the major and pass the oral defense, and pass HSK Level 5 or above.

3. Main courses

Oral Chinese, Chinese Reading, Chinese Listening and Speaking, Chinese Comprehensive Class, Introduction to Literature, Appreciation of Ancient Chinese Literary Works, A Guide to the Classics of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Modern Chinese, Foreign Literature, Aesthetics, Travel Chinese, Business Chinese, Overview of China, Special Topics on Chinese Culture, Special Topics on Chinese History, Special Topics on Chinese Philosophy, Intercultural Communication

4. Duration: 4 Years

5. Award degree: Bachelor of Arts

6. Application Schedule: January 15th, 2023 to May 31st, 2023

7.Application Documents

(1) Valid passport, applicants in China are required to provide residence permit page.

 

(2) Original or notarized photocopies of senior high school diploma in Chinese or English.

 

(3) Original or notarized photocopies of senior high school transcripts in Chinese or English.

(4) Personal Resume or CV

(5) English Language Certificate (IELTS>5.5 or TOEFL>70. Other international standard tests are also acceptable, language proficiency certificate from your school can be taken into consideration

(6)Valid medical certificate

(7) Certificate of Non-criminal Record

(8) Financial statement

(9) Other supporting materials including sports, arts and other relevant awards and certificates.

Note: 1) In addition to the above application materials, supplementary materials may be required to provide depending on the circumstances

2) The application will not be accepted if the application materials are incomplete.

9. Interview

Students are required to attend a video or telephone interview at a specified time, or to provide a short video of up to 5 minutes, covering English self-introduction, willingness to study in China, etc.

10. Costs (in RMB Yuan)

(1) Application fee (Non-refundable): RMB 600

(2) Tuition fees: RMB 16,000/Year (Tuition will be reduced by RMB 10,000 per year for scholarship students.)

(3) Insurance: RMB 800/year
