Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU) was founded in 1906, with a long history of more than 110 years. It is a national “Project 211” key construction university and a national “Double First-Class” construction university with the coordinating development of various disciplines, taking biotechnology as its feature and agricultural science and technology as its advantage.It is also an excellent university evaluated by the Ministry of Education for undergraduate education. 


SAU consists of 27 colleges, 4 research institutes (centers) and 2 state key laboratories which cover a variety of academic fields such as Agronomy, Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Management, Medicine, Literature, Education, Law and Art. There are 50 authorized disciplines for doctoral degrees and 2 grantable categories for doctoral speciality degree, 101 authorized disciplines for master's degrees and 16 grantable categories for master's speciality degrees, and 76 undergraduate enrollment majors. In addition, 9 post-doctoral research centers are well equipped. 


SAU has more than 3440 faculty members, among them 487 professors and 601 associate professors as well as 340 doctoral supervisors and 851 master's supervisors. There are more than 44,000 full-time students, including 36,000 undergraduates, and 8600 graduate students.

        

Chengdu Campus

SAU has outstanding advantages in breeding, cultivation and deep processing of maize, rice, wheat, peanut, cotton, vegetables and fruits, as well as in cattle, sheep, swine, aquaculture etc. Animal Nutrition and Feeding, Crop Genetics and Breeding, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Preventive Veterinary Medicine are four of national keystone disciplines in China. Plant and Animal Science has been ranked among the top 1‰ the ESI rankings, and Nine disciplines, namely Agricultural Science, Plant and Animal Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Environmental Science and Ecology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics and Social Science have been ranked among the top 1% in the world in the ESI rankings. Agricultural Science and Veterinary Medicine ranked 11th and 19th respectively among the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). Animal Nutrition and Feed Science and Crop Science were selected into the Overseas Expertise Introduction Centers for Discipline Innovation (111 Projects) respectively in 2017 and 2018. It has won more than 700 awards for scientific and technological achievements at or above the provincial level, and about 70% of the award-winning achievements have been popularized and transformed, creating a total of more than 100 billion yuan in social and economic benefits. In recent years, more than 500 important papers have been published in academic journals such as Science, Cell.

Ya'an Campus


        SAU has established long-term and substantive exchange and cooperation relations with more than 100 universities and research institutes in more than 31 countries and regions, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany,Russia, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and so on, more than 170 exchanges and cooperation agreements have been signed. It has carried out joint training programs with well-known universities outside the country in the modes of "2+2", "3+1", "3+1+X", "4+1", and so on. There are 1 joint laboratory for international cooperation of the Ministry of Education, 4 international scientific and technological cooperation bases, and 1 national and regional research center. It is also one of the first universities granted the permission by the Ministry of Education to enroll international students at the three levels of bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree. A majority of master’s and doctoral degree programs can be delivered in English, at the same time, can offer dozens of short-term English courses such as Traditional Chinese Veterinary Acupuncture, International Economics and Trade, etc.


Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU) consists of three campuses: Ya'an, Chengdu and Dujiangyan, covering a total area of about 741 acres, with 11.65 million volumes (pieces) of literature resources.
