On the morning of September 23, Mr. Julian Lasinger (Julian),Deputy Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chengdu, and Dr. Eva Sternfeld (Eva), Head of the Sino-German Agricultural Center Technology Platform, led a group of three to visit SAU to discuss the educational exchange and cooperation between the university and German universities.VicePresident Lu Yanli, Party Committee Standing Committee Member, Head of the Propaganda Department, Director of the German Research Center Jiang Yuansheng attended the exchange activities.
The delegation of Julian firstly visited the University History Exhibition Hall on Chengdu campus. Subsequently, Dr. Evawasinvited by the German Research Center to gave an academic lecture entitled "Sharing Experiences of the Sino-German Agricultural Biodiversity Cooperation Network". Dr. Evapresented the ongoing Sino-German cooperation projects at the Sino-German Agricultural Center, shared the importance of agricultural biodiversity in addressing climate change and promoting economic development in rural areas in both China and Germany, and discussed the operational status of seed banks in Sichuanarea. Dr. Eva believes that incorporating the agricultural biodiversity cooperation network into future Sino-German cooperation projects is of profound significance. Finally, Dr. Eva extended an invitation to the teachers and students of our university to participate in the academic activities of the Sino-German Agricultural Center.
After the lecture, both parties held a cooperation meetingin Room 301 ofThe Teaching Building 1. Lu Yanli first warmly welcomed Julian and the delegation on behalf of the university. She emphasized that German universities have always been one of our most important partners, achieving fruitful results in signing inter-university cooperation agreements, faculty exchanges, student exchanges, and joint scientific researches. Based on this point, the university will further promote the in-depth development of exchanges and cooperation with German universities and research institutions. Julian expressed that there are many entry points for cooperation, and in the current global economic context, the status and importance of agricultural cooperation are increasingly highlighted. Therefore, he is very pleased to visit Sichuan Agricultural University and sees that Sichuan Agricultural University has already engaged in in-depth and extensive cooperation with Germany. He hopes that both sides can continue to promote strong cooperation in the future. During the meeting, Dr. Eva and Shen Qianling, Deputy Director of German Research Center introduced the construction of their respective centers and reached preliminary intentions for specific cooperation.
Dr. Eva is an expertinthe Sino-German Agricultural Center in Beijing, working on issues related to China's environmental policy and resource economics. Before joining the Sino-German Agricultural Center, Dr. Eva was a guest professor at the China Institute of the Free University of Berlin and the head of the Center for Chinese Science, Technology, and Culture Studies at the Technical University of Berlin. From 2000 to 2008, she served as a foreign advisor for the Environmental Education and Communication Center of China's Ministry of Environmental Protection. She has published numerous articles on China's urban and rural development and water resources management.
